Here at Healing Paws for Heroes we rescue, train and donate our dogs to Veterans, Law Enforcement, and First Responders free of charge.
Costs for a fully trained service dog can run a minimum of $17,000 up to $40,000 or even
higher depending on the needs of the recipient. The costs can be prohibitive for a veteran on a fixed income seeking a service dog, the waiting lists for financial assistance and pairing with the right dog can take years.
We focus our rescues on mainly herding breeds and mixes as they are primarily abandoned due to inexperienced owners not giving a working breed a job, and these breeds do not cope well in shelters, shutting down emotionally, losing appetite, then getting euthanized.
After some rehab and training with our trainers they are ready to save a life.
